Disclaimer.....

Not much posting going on here lately. I haven't forgotten about the blog...just have been busy.
So many other things to do and so many moments to enjoy.
But never fear...I have things in the works and will be posting them soon! Hope everyone had a lovely holiday and a Happy New Year.

Making Christmas.....

I finished the last of my Christmas orders tonight, and breathed a sigh of relief. I am finally done making Christmas. The watches were a customer order for one of my best friends in the whole world, Kitty Fidget. She wanted them for her nieces. One will stay here in Georgia, the other making it's home in Florida. I hope that they enjoy them - I did.
Merry Christmas everyone. I hope the holiday season, and the new year, find you happy, healthy and with the ones that you love.

Older Projects

Since I have been down with the flu my boys have so generously shared with me not much beading has been going on. Here is an older project that I had not posted. Sorry the photography isn't the best, couldn't get the light to cooperate with me. But I love the flowered, blue coins....might need some simpler spacers to show it off well though. This might go into my rework pile. Hope everyone is having a lovely holiday.

Crochet Projects

As I promised in an earlier post here are a few of the crochet projects I have been working on. So many friends with so many lovely children. Hopefully the scarves will keep them warm.
Two blankets for a our nephew's children. I happen to love this star pattern.
I think that my crochet projects for Christmas are finally done. Good thing to, as I am about out of time. :-)

Thinking Brown.....

I hadn't done very much with nuetrals and browns lately so I came up with this over the weekend also. I am not sure how the silver is working with it, gold accents might have been better, but I think it still works.

Christmas Presents

Every year I like to make gifts for my friends, especially my girl friends. I like to figure out what suits them personally and make something tailored to that. My friend "Weezy" is definitely a girly-girl in the best ways possible. But for her jewelry she keeps it simple. She doesn't want anything long, or dangles...sleek is the word that comes to mind.

I hope that this will be a gift she will enjoy and wear often. Merry Christmas "Weezy", here's to another year of laughing and picking at one another. Psst...don't worry, this blog won't spoil the surprise. She doesn't even own a computer. :-)

Out of Touch.....

I haven't posted in days. I had planned to put up a new blog this weekend. The best laid plans and all of that. Instead a virulent stomach flu decided to rip through our house and afflict everyone with the exception of me. Prior to it descending I was able to finish these pieces. I love the frosted glass bar pendant. I found silver pinch bails to attach it and just blended crystal, black and silver accents.

I happen to love this one. Glass beads are a favorite of mine. I would like to take credit for the wire wrapping, but cannot. That is still on my to-do list to figure out so I will admit I purchased these already done. It was one of those pieces that went together so easily it was done before I realized it. I hope it finds a good home and someone else to love it as much as I do.

Work Space

With all the craziness of the holiday rush and the mad dash to finish my crochet projects I haven't worked on any new jewelry this week. I thought I would post this photo my hubby snapped of my work area. Are you wondering where the beads are? Don't worry...the boxes are next to me, out of site, boxes upon boxes of them.
Happy Friday!

Feeling Green

I'm to sleepy this morning to string coherent thoughts together.
I hope you like this piece and have a great day. :-)

More Frosted Glass

Just a short one today. Here is another pendant that I found at the same time as the Robert Frost. I love how these look. Just wish I could find some frosted beads to scatter on the necklaces too.

Musings and Robert Frost

I happened up on a new line of beads, findings and pendants. They aren't my usual things but I am liking them more and more. Sometimes I have to step out of my comfort zone and really look around me. It isn't always easy for me but I know of no other way to try and grow...to not let things get stagnant.
The pendant looks large, but in reality isn't. I made this piece into a choker, I thought that it would show it off to it's best advantage. I love the frosted orange color of it. I wasn't able to find beads to "match" so I just stayed with orange and sprinkled in some crystals.

In case you are unable to see this clearly enough in the photograph, it reads: "Two roads diverged in a wood, I took the one less traveled by, and that has made all the difference." I've always loved this quote. I am not big on poetry in general but sometimes the words just stick with me - regardless of genre. If the choker never sells that will be just fine with me.

Purple, Purple, Purple...

I was thinking of my sister this weekend so purple had to be used. While I don't think this is really her style, it is definitely one of her colors.

Holiday Orders

Over the past few weeks I had to put some time in on holiday orders. My workspace was filled with snowman, gingerbread men/houses, candy canes and of course Santa.
I had to make 25 variations of the two listed here. It was fun, but I am glad to be done so now I can just do whatever the beads tell me to. :-)

How I spent my Saturday afternoon.....

I seem to find my best supplies as happy accidents. These Christmas lights were found black Friday while looking for projects for my boys to do. I love all the different colors. Apparently everyone else does too as this is the second batch I have made since then.
I love changing up the dangles so that everyone gets a pair that suits them. Enough colors to please everyone.
My little snow people I found wandering Wal-Mart looking for wrapping paper Friday on my lunch hour. I am sure that they weren't made to become part of a piece of jewelry, but they worked out just fine.
I love the little details of their faces. They look festive. I can't wait to wear a pair and show them off.
The little scarves are pretty cute too. :-)

Lady Bug Fun

I love the classic combination of red and black. I love the patina on the silver findings. On this one I mixed glass beads with simple plastic ones so that the weight would be comfortable.
But what I enjoy the most is when you finally get a closer look at it. That is when you see the lady bugs!

A Beading Break

Since my mind hasn't been quiet enough to bead I have been crocheting. This is an older blanket that I did for my husband. My current project is a star shaped blanket in pink and green, a Christmas gift for a niece. I like the feel of the yarn in my hands, watching the blanket grow and the colors come together. When I finish my current project I will definitely post it. Then you can let me know what you think of it.

I had the baby blues....

Here are some more glass beads. Rectangular this time instead of the squares. Light blue instead of green. I like them just as much. I found a complimentary color in small crystals to use as spacers. Just a simple little necklace, but I think it works.
Now, I seem to have a strange case of beading block....not that I can't think of anything to bead. No, quite the opposite! I have so many ideas I can't decide on one and get it done before the next one is ready to get started. I may have to pull a few old pieces to show you for the next few posts but I will get it all figured out.

Green Glass

I found these green glass squares on "black Friday". I didn't do the whole, big shopping bit. I just went out for a bit with my sister in law. As she is recovering from surgery we took it easy. She is just getting into beading so we decided to peruse the local Michael's.
Unfortunately I could only find one strand, and with a broken piece to boot. I still couln't resist. But due to the amount that I had no other choice could be made but a choker. Even without earrings to match this one sold just as quickly as the others. I hope Claudia enjoys wearing it as much as I enjoyed making it.

Star Light, Star Bright

I came across the star pendants completely by accident. Kind of wandering around in my own head trying to figure out what it was I came in there for. I tend to get into the bead store and just forget. As I wandered around the stars just jumped out at me. I like how the earrings turned out...like little disco balls with the way they catch the light.
I loved this one and seriously considered not even having it for sale. It worked out for the best though. One of my dearest friends grabbed it right up. She will wear it to her holiday party this coming weekend. I hope it's a great party "Fidget" and that you enjoy this piece.

Birds Revisited....

I feel so in love with the birds I decided I had to make another.
I guess it could end up being a bit redundant but I know I am not finished with these little guys. The possibilities are endless. I can guarantee that there will be more of them. My good friend at Witch Hollow was kind enough to fill my head with so many ideas. They are clamoring to come out!
I think that I love the earrings this time as much as I do how this version of the birds turned out.

Odds and ends for the holidays

Sun catchers..hang them in your window and once the light hits them - let the show begin.
Something to help you keep track of your glasses. They are so fun to make!

The Way I Spent My Weekend

Winter wonderland with thoughts of snow. I'm sorry it's blurry - it just wouldn't cooperate!
Close up of the detail on this piece. When I saw it I fell in love with it. This weekend I finally got around to finishing it.
The finished piece....Blue Birds.
Hearts under a midnight blue, starry sky.

Reading back over this I am sure it is obvious that blue appears to be on my mind. I need to work through it as it is time to start holiday orders. Some blues will work for that but most people like traditional Christmas colors.

Autmn Inspiration

While it may feel wintry outside it is still just fall. I wish that I were able to find some fall foliage in the colors that I can see in my back yard but until then this should hold me over. This is another piece that went so quickly I didn't even get to enjoy it for more than 24 hours..but that isn't all bad.

My dear friend at Witch Hollow Primitives was kind enough to think me worthy of this award. Thank you so much! Your kindness means the world to me.
She instructed me to choose five other blogs that I felt worth of this award and so I will. They are as follows:

Slapdash Haberdashery
Lady Roots
The Bean; sans Womb
The Angry Georgian
Clay Perry

These are some of my favorite blogs and well worth keeping up with. Now pass on the awards guys...keep it going. :-)

Musings about pieces.....

Normally, I am a girl who prefers to wear a standard size necklace. Long ones dangle down and tend to hang in my way, especially given my work. But I love this one. It is simple, in construction and design. I can just slip it over my neck and go.
This one was so much fun! Each little black square was a different rainbow of colors. There was no setting a pattern to them. I just used black as my accent to pick up the only repeated scheme in the squares and grabbed what came to my hand otherwise. I love to work with glass beads. I think because they are not mass produced, each one is a little different. Helps me to get past that part of my brain that thinks everything has to be the same to look right. I didn't even get to keep this one long...it sold the first day. But now I get the enjoyment of seeing her wear it and know she thinks it is as much fun as I do.
I love beads that look and feel organic. These wood beads come in all shapes and sizes and can be paired with anything. I love how I can use black, gold or silver tones or color and they all go well. So versatile! These are generally popular pieces for me. I don't know if it is because it is fall now and the colors work or if people feel as drawn to them as I do.

Let me know what all of you think!
